Steve Carpenter, is Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.  His research program currently focuses on understanding human T cell and macrophage responses to Mycobacterium tubercu\losis and other chronic infectious diseases, and he has research interests in transplant and the immunocompromised host. Dr. Carpenter has active projects with the Uganda-CWRU Research Collaboration, including training and mentoring of graduate students
