THE UGANDA-CWRU RESEARCH COLLABORATION INVITES APPLICATIONS FROM QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS TO FILL THE POSITION OF A HOME VISITOR
QUALIFICATIONS – Enrolled Nurse, Community Health Worker, Clinical Officer, or other health-related Diploma or Degree holder.
- Community practice skills and ability to work in the community
- At least two years experience working in a registered health unit
- Good group organizational and communication skills including fluency in written English and Luganda, and working familiarity with other local languages commonly used in the Kampala area
- Working knowledge of tuberculosis and HIV care
- Prior health projects/community research is an added advantage
- A current, valid Ugandan nursing or health-related professional license is required
- A current, valid Ugandan motorcycle driving/riding license is required
Duties and Responsibilities
- Together with other staff, will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of Collaboration work
- Home visiting and recording of home location
- Implementing directly observed therapy (DOT) in TB care
- Inform patients, relatives, etc. about TB and HIV.
- Taking vital signs, which include temperature, weight, and height.
- Placing and reading TB skin tests
- Counseling and assisting study participants with social problems and liaising with study coordinators and investigators as needed
- Conducting follow-up visits and assessing the nutritional status of study participants
- Assessing adherence to study treatment and visits
